Question 1

What is separation anxiety training?

Accepted Answer

Separation anxiety training (also called systematic desensitisation) teaches your dog that being alone is safe by gradually increasing the time you're out of sight. It starts with very short absences, even just seconds, and builds up slowly so your dog never reaches a panic threshold. Steadypaws structures this process and helps you track your progress.

Question 2

How long does separation anxiety training take?

Accepted Answer

It varies a lot depending on the dog. Some dogs make significant progress in weeks; others with more severe anxiety may take months of consistent training. The key is doing frequent, short sessions and never pushing your dog beyond their threshold. Steadypaws helps you stay consistent and track where your dog is at.

Question 3

My dog's sessions have been getting worse. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Regression is normal and doesn't mean you've failed. It usually means the current goal duration is too long. Try stepping back to a shorter time where your dog is reliably comfortable, and build from there again.

Question 4

What does the session rating mean?

Accepted Answer

After each session you rate how your dog did: Good (calm throughout), Okay (minor signs of anxiety), or Tough (barking, pacing, or clear distress). These ratings colour your progress chart and help spot patterns over time.

Question 5

How do I add more dogs?

Accepted Answer

Go to the Profile tab and tap 'Add dog' in the Dogs section. Each dog gets their own independent training history and streak.

Question 6

What is Steadypaws Pro?

Accepted Answer

Pro unlocks full session history (free users see the last 30 sessions), household sharing, and the ability to export your training log as a CSV. Progress charts are free for everyone. You can subscribe (£4.99/month or £29.99/year) from the Profile screen.

Question 7

How does household sharing work?

Accepted Answer

With Steadypaws Pro, you can invite a partner or family member by email so they can view and log sessions for your dog. Everyone in the household stays on the same page. Invites are managed from the Profile tab.

Question 8

Can I use Steadypaws without creating an account?

Accepted Answer

Currently Steadypaws requires an account so your data syncs securely. Your email is the only personal information we ask for.

Question 9

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Accepted Answer

Two clicks: go to Profile → Manage billing, and cancel from the billing portal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. No emails, no retention hoops.

Question 10

How do I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Go to Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, dog profiles, and all session history are removed. You can export your data first if you want a copy.
